Marcos and Duterte’s Martial Law no difference

46 years ago – President Ferdinand Marcos declared Martial law that brought about a thousand realities of extra-judicial killings, forced disappearances, torture, and other forms of human rights violations all over the Philippines. Four decades since the Marcos dictatorship, the people of Mindanao face yet another Martial Law declared by the Duterte Administration last May 23, 2017.

The Movement Against Tyranny-Northern Mindanao Region adamantly reiterates that the Martial Law of Duterte is a tool of suppression against the rights and liberties of the people and being such, it has no difference with the Martial Law of Marcos era. We call on the government to end the ineffective Martial Law in Mindanao. Stop blaming the people for your administrations’ anti-people policy, stop the unabated killings.
