DAVAO CITY, Philippines — A volunteer for a human rights group Kawagib Moro Human Rights based in Maguindanao was shot and killed by suspected military agents at around 3:00 p.m of September 23, a spokesperson of the group said.

BANGSAMORO ALERT Mariam Uy Acob, 43, a local leader of Suara Bangsamoro and paralegal volunteer of Kawagib Moro Human Rights in Maguindanao was shot dead by suspected military agents around 3pm yesterday, September 23, 2018.

Rex Hangadon, a 23-year old Lumad farmer, was shot by the 23rd Infantry Batallion (IB) of the Philippine Army as he was resting in a hut in Sitio Bulak, Lower Olave, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte at around 2 o’clock in the afternoon yesterday, September 15, 2018. His father who was with him during the incident remains missing. The safety of the elder Hangadon is uncertain as reports from the ground stated that shots were fired within the vicinity today.

Suara Bangsamoro condemns President Rodrigo Duterte for committing treachery by allowing US troops to “participate” in combat operations and thus violating the country's sovereign rights. The recent aerial bombardments in Maguindanao in the name of the US-led “war on terror” are tantamount to state-sponsored genocidal attacks on the Moro people.
