ROGER GONZALES, 50 y/o old farmer and council member of the Nagkahiusang Mag-uuma sa Agusan del Sur-Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (NAMASUN-KMP) was arrested by about 30 combined SWAT and Provincial Public Safety Battalion (PPSB) personnel at around 4 o'clock in the morning of February 23, 2018 in his home in Purok 9, Del Monte, Talacogon, Agusan del Sur. The arresting officers claimed that he was in possession of a caliber .357 gun.

On February 19, 2018, participants in an international solidarity mission (ISM) were refused entry to the Lumad communities in Brgy. Diatagon, Lianga, Surigao del Sur by soldiers of the 75th Infantry Battalion manning the military checkpoint at Sitio Neptune. The ten (10) ISM delegates, four are human rights advocates from abroad, were accompanied by Lianga councilor Sammy Dollano and Friends of the Lumad in Caraga (FLC) chairperson and Lianga resident Bishop Modesto Villasanta.
